Some of the major benefits of Volvo vehicles is that they have excellent fuel economy, are easy to use and have excellent resale value. Most people might shy away from this and other hybrid vehicles, but there is no reason to. In addition to being very reliable, Volvo hybrids are also versatile. They produce a lot of torque from the electric motor, which means that even the larger SUVs such as the XC60 Plug-In Hybrid can be very useful. Starting and stopping a Volvo Hybrid involves these steps:
Starting And Stopping a Regular Volvo Hybrid
Older hybrid Volvos can easily be started and stopped using the following methods:
- To use the key fob, get in the vehicle using the key fob. Press the brake pedal and then press the start stop button. You will need to make sure that the transmission is in neutral or Park mode.
- Some Volvo hybrids also feature a remote start. To start these types of vehicles, you only need the key fob and you don't need to be in the vehicle. You can start them remotely by pressing the start/stop button on the key fob. This is usually a dedicated button that you press once you have unlocked the vehicle.
- To stop the vehicle, simply stop the car at a safe place, put the gear in "Park" or "Neutral" and then press the start/stop button. You can then get out of the vehicle and then lock the doors or walk away from the vehicle for it to lock automatically when you are a certain distance from it.
For Plug in Hybrids, the process is still the same though some differences come into play because of the vehicles being plugins. The steps to start and stop the vehicles in these cases are:
- Make sure all doors are locked.
- Ensure that the charging cable is not connected to the vehicle. This is critical as it will make it impossible to start the car and may damage some components if you use alternative means of starting it.
- As is the case with most other cars, ensure the vehicle is in "Park" or "Neutral", press the brake pedal and then press the start/stop button. This is usually located on the central console, just in front of the driver's armrest. The parking brake button is located just behind the start/stop button.
- Change the gear to Drive or Reverse depending on how you want the vehicle to move. The current plugin hybrids have "One Pedal Drive", a feature which will make the car move in the direction selected if activated. This means that you don't have to press the accelerate pedal to make the car drive forward or in reverse if this is activated.
