Step 1: Jack It Up And Open It

Put the car back on the ground after replacing the oil filter and drain plug and reinstalling the undertray. The oil cap, represented by a can of oil, must be removed before the hood can be opened. Oil should be poured into the engine using a funnel at the recommended volume as specified by the manufacturer.

Step 6: Make Sure the Oil Is Full And Look For Any Leaks

Finally, when the oil has settled into the pan for a few minutes, check the level with the dipstick to ensure it is adequate. It's easy to perform an oil check: Take the dipstick out of its pipe, wipe off any excess oil with a towel, re-insert the dipstick, pull it out again, and make sure the oil level reads full. Finally, turn the key and let the car warm up while you inspect the undercarriage and oil filter for leaks.
