When the remote's key battery dies, you'll need to replace it. The majority of batteries only last for a certain amount of time before they need to be changed (does not apply to Key Tag). How often you use the car/key affects how long the battery lasts. If the locks fail to respond to the remote key's signals when you are less than 20 meters (65 feet) away from the vehicle, it may be time to replace the battery. If you're having trouble unlocking your automobile, try getting closer to it or contact us here at Volvo Cars Brooklyn. This is how to replace the battery in your Volvo car's key:

How To Install New Volvo Car Key Battery

Step 1: Opening The Shell

  • Slide the button on the remote's bottom edge beside the key ring to the right when holding it with the front facing you and the Volvo logo pointing in the correct direction. Lift the front of the case a fraction of an inch.
  • Once this occurs, the shell can be removed from the key.
  • To open, you'll need to rotate the key, slide the button to the side, and lift the back cover a fraction of an inch. As a result, you'll be able to remove the key from the lock and the shell from the key.
  • Using a screwdriver or other suitable tool, rotate the battery cover counterclockwise until the marks align with the OPEN lettering.

Step 2: Changing The Battery

  • Lift the battery cover with care by inserting a fingernail or similar object into the slot.
  • Lift the battery cover using a pry bar.
  • Normally, you would want the positive (+) terminal of a battery to be on top. The battery must be carefully pried out. Keep your fingertips away from brand-new batteries and their contact surfaces to ensure optimal performance.
  • A new battery should be installed with the plus (+) sign facing upward. Try not to put any metal objects, such as your finger, on the battery connections of the remote's key.
  • Insert the battery with the flat side down into the holder. The battery should be moved forward until the two plastic latches capture it.
  • Put some pressure on the battery and slide it beneath the black plastic catch at the top of the device. Remember that the batteries should be bought from an authorized factory or a certified Volvo service center.
  • The battery cover must be turned clockwise until the notch lines up with the word "CLOSE" before it can be reinstalled.

Step 3: Closed The Shell Back

  • Put the back shell back in place and push it down until you hear a click.
  • When the shell is in the right place, you'll hear another click.
  • To reassemble the remote control key, flip it over and press down the front shell until a clicking sound is heard.
  • If you hear another click, the shell is properly bonded.
  • Take care to dispose of used batteries in a way that won't harm the environment.
